Where did C&D come from?
C&D Rigging was formed in 1992 by Dave Wiggins and Chris Sayers. Our aim was to supply rigging equipment to the film and TV industry, on a small scale. At the time this was mainly handled by companies with no specialisation in any particular field.
The launch of C&D Rigging was met with an incredible response to say the least.
We started with an old flatbed ford transit and a small amount of rigging equipment. The equipment quickly disappeared out on hire and transport was stretched to it's maximum. Soon the current location in Iver near to Uxbrige became too small.
It was time to expand...
A new yard was urgently needed and soon found at Elstee Film Studios, home of the giant George Lucas Satge. By this time Dave had chosen to retire and C&D Rigging moved to Elstree. With more space and greater capacity came the need for more staff. At the same time we greatly increased our fleet of vehicles with the addition of two new 7.5-ton trucks and s a 26-ton vehicle that enabled us to move large amounts of equipment for customers at short notice.
Once in Elstee Film Studios C&D Rigging continued to grow. As capacity again reached maximum further storage space was acquired St Albans and along with the addition of a 16-ton rigid truck.
After sixteen years and numerous locations we have now brought all of our equipment together creating what we always intended, the UK’s largest one stop rigging shop!
Time to move again...
The final move was to Pinewood Film Studios, the biggest film and TV studio in Europe, with our premises right next door to the newly built James Bond 007 Stage, again the largest stage in Europe.
C&D Rigging now have 11 full time employees and a fleet of 5 vehicles.
And that’s not nearly the end of the story…
